Las Madrinas Endowment for the Pediatric Simulation Research Laboratory

Thanks to the Las Madrinas Endowment for the Pediatric Simulation Research Laboratory, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles built and completed its state-of-the-art simulation center in 2016. The center simulates the circumstances, medical conditions and treatment responses experienced in a multitude of hospital settings such as the emergency room, trauma unit, operating room, intensive care unit, catheterization laboratory, as well as a variety of procedure units. The simulation center allows health care practitioners to practice on physiologically responsive, full-size, anatomically accurate mannequins that display real-time vital signs and asses all major organ systems to provide appropriate interventions. The simulation center is a pivotal resource for multiple departments across Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and education programs for the next generation of caregivers. Simulation Specialist Educator Caulette Young, BSN, RN, CCRN thanks Las Madrinas for its support in helping Children’s Hospital Los Angeles  “set the standard among pediatric trauma centers.”
