The Las Madrinas Endowment for Autism Research, Interventions and Outcomes has provided critical support for Children Hospital Los Angeles’ participation in the Autism Speaks/Autism Treatment Network (AS/ATN), a consortium of 13 sites across the US and Canada specializing in multidisciplinary care for children with autism. The AS/ATN sites share a common commitment to improving care for those impacted by autism and also supports research relevant to the most complex medical conditions related to autism.
Currently, numerous areas of research studies are underway by Dr. Michele Kipke and her team at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
- Family Navigation: This study aims to develop new national guidelines for delivering autism-related “family navigation” care coordination. Researchers are evaluating the efficacy of family navigation within the AS-ATN by assessing how families feel and adapt to an autism diagnosis.
- Learning Network: CHLA confines to partner with the Anderson Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the AS-ATN on the Autism Learning Health Network. By bringing together patients and their loved ones, the network uses the experience of families to improve the quality and safety of autism care.
